Dzo Jongo is a 6,250 meters peak in the Markha valley. There are other peaks around the Dzo Jongo such as Kang Yatse 1 and 2, Dzojongo east but the Dzo Jongo is a well accomplished peak which doesn’t require high climbing skills to climb but it needs high endurance. So you must prepare before you plan for. It includes Markha treks which lead through the beautiful hamlets to the high altitude grazing land of Nimaling. The 5 days trek will help your body to get better acclimatization for the summit day. 

Day one: Arrival day

You must be landed in Leh at an altitude of 3,500 meters. You must take it slow with your day. It is better to take a rest and take plenty of fluid as it will help your body to get more oxygen.

Day two: Acclimatization

It is your acclimatization day. We’ll take a short trek to upper Leh for an acclimation trek as I’ll help your body to get acclimatized well. In the evening you can visit Shanti stupa and Leh Market.

Day three: Drive to Sara

We will drive to Sara which is a 3 hours drive from Leh but we’ll visit the hall of fame Phatarshabe Gurdwara and Sangam on the way. We’ll drive along the Zangsker river and Markha valley. Sara is a small village in Markha valley.

Day four: Sara to Markha

It is ideal to start your day early morning to avoid strong sun heat. Sara to Markha is 9km trek, in-between you’ll find the beautiful landscape of the Mountain and Scenery. By the afternoon you’ll reach at the campsite at Markha village and enjoy the rest of the day.

Day five: Markha to Thuchungtse
Follow the same routine as yesterday. It’ll be quite a long day today.  So today we will hike for almost 15 km from Markha village to Thunchungtse Campsite. You’ll cross two beautiful villages, the Umlung and Hankar. You will also see the first sight of KangYatse. After reaching the camp-site, have some tea and snacks.

Day six: Thuchungtse to Nimaling

The trail is gradually up and leads to a two small natural lake which is known as Tisgu. The Nimaling is a summer pasture. Where the Markha village keeps the lifestooks for summer.

Day seven: Nimaling to Base camp

The day will be shorter than the other days but it feels long due to the altitude. In the evening we will go for a short acclimatation walk.

Day eight: Preparation day
You will take a rest most of the time at the basecamp, and later on our professional mountaineering guide will briefing you about the basic mountaineering at the basecamp like introduction of crampon, harness, rope etc and show you how to self arrest. Later we issued some of the equipment to the climber. We will also go for the height gain of 150m from the basecamp.

Day nine: Summit day!
It will be a very long day so be prepared for that and once we are at the top the view will melt the exhaustion. We’ll start our day around midnight to get on the top with the sun. Before you start please check your things especially sunglasses, water bottle and so on. 

Altitude: 6,250m(20500ft)
Altitude gain+ 1,045m 

Day ten: Buffer day

This day is an extra day which is kept in case of bad weather on the summit day or needs extra time to acclimatize at the base camp.

Day eleven: Back to Leh

It is quite a long day as we need to cross a high pass, Kongmaru La (5,200m), on the way to Chokdo. Start early to ensure you get back to Leh on time.
