After completing a one-year course, he volunteered to work with the visionary Sonam Wangchuk on the ambitious Ice Stupa project from 2014 to 2022. In 2018, compelled by his love for the mountains and concern for their future, Dawa pursued a career in mountaineering. He completed his Basic Mountaineering Course (BMC) at the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM) in Uttarakhand, followed by an Advanced Mountaineering Course (AMC) at the National Institute of Mountaineering and Adventuring Sports (NIMAS) in Arunachal Pradesh. Thupstan Dawa has also established his own adventure travel company, Dawa Adventure, where expert mountain guides accompany travelers, ensuring both thrilling and educational experiences in the mountains. Through his work, Dawa continues to blend his love for mountaineering with his mission to protect Ladakh’s fragile environment.
