Meet Dawa

Born and raised in the rugged mountains of Ladakh, Dawa's connection to the Himalayas runs far deeper than a profession—it is a way of life. Growing up in a region where communities have learned to thrive in one of the world's harshest environments, he developed a profound respect for nature, local traditions, and the delicate balance between people and the land. A graduate of the renowned SECMOL (Students' Educational and Cultural Movement of Ladakh), Dawa was inspired by its philosophy of sustainability, innovation, and environmental stewardship. This foundation led him to join the pioneering Ice Stupa Project, where he became one of the few team members involved during its early pilot phase. Working closely with visionary innovator Mr. Sonam Wangchuk, Dawa contributed both technical expertise and creative ideas that helped shape the project's success and global recognition.

For nearly a decade, he dedicated to work with Ice Stupa Project on Himalayan glaciers, developing artificial glacier technologies, and exploring practical solutions to water scarcity in high-altitude communities. His work took him beyond Ladakh to international platforms, where he shared knowledge about artificial glaciers, climate adaptation, and mountain environments with audiences around the world. This vision gave birth to Dawa Adventure—a company founded not only to guide travelers through the Himalayas, but to foster meaningful connections between visitors, local people, and the fragile mountain environment. Through every trek, expedition, and cultural journey, Dawa strives to share the authentic spirit of Ladakh while ensuring that tourism remains a positive force for future generations.
